White Peak Distillery Summer Cocktails
We’ve been developing some cocktail recipes to showcase our spirits. Here are some of our favourite summer serves, with a cocktail recipe for our Bakewell Pud, Original, Spiced and Citrus gins and our Cask Aged Rum.
Bakewell Sour cocktail with Shining Cliff Bakewell Pud Gin
• 50ml Bakewell Pud Gin
• 25ml lemon
• 25ml cherry syrup/cordial
• Cherry to garnish (fresh, glacé or maraschino)
Measure all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add some crushed ice, then shake and strain into a chilled coupe or Martini glass. Garnish with a cherry.
Gin Gin cocktail with Shining Cliff Spiced Gin
• 50ml Spiced Gin
• 25ml simple sugar syrup
• 25ml lime juice
• 120ml ginger beer / ale
• Strip of lime zest to garnish
Pare a strip of lime zest from your lime, trying to avoid the pith. Run a lighter along the strip for a few seconds before twisting the zest into a spiral. This releases the oils from the zest, enhancing its aroma.
Add cubed ice to a highball glass, then add the gin, sugar syrup and lime juice. Stir, then top with ginger beer or ginger ale (ginger beer will give you a zingier drink). Garnish with the twist of lime zest.
Tom Collins cocktail with Shining Cliff Citrus Gin
- 50ml Citrus Gin
- 25ml simple sugar syrup
- 25ml lemon juice
- Splash of soda
- Wedge of lemon to garnish
Add cubed ice to a highball glass, then add the gin, sugar syrup and lemon juice. Stir, then top with soda. Garnish with a wedge of lemon.
Gin Fizz cocktail with Shining Cliff Original Gin
- 1 part Original Gin
- 1 part elderflower cordial
- 3 parts Prosecco
- Sugar for the rim
- Mint to garnish
Chill a coupe glass. For the sugar rim, prepare two shallow, flat saucers – one with 1mm of water (or lemon juice if you prefer), one with a thin layer of granulated or caster sugar. Dip the rim of the glass in the water or lemon juice, then into the sugar. Rotate the glass in the sugar to create an evenly sugared rim. Shake off any excess.
Mix the gin, cordial and Prosecco in the glass, stir gently, then garnish with mint. Add some ice if you like.
Mardy Rum cocktail with White Peak Distillery Cask Aged Rum
- 2 parts Cask Aged Rum
- 5 parts ginger ale
- Squeeze of lime
- Lime wedge to garnish
Add cubed ice to a highball glass. Add rum and ginger ale, then a squeeze of lime to taste. Garnish with a lime wedge.
