Wire Works Whisky has been recognised on the global stage, and we’ve been nominated in not one but two categories at this years Online Scotch Whisky Awards (OSWA) 2025  , including best World Whisky. This achievement builds on Wire Works Bourbon Barrel winning the People’s Choice Award in 2024 OSWA’s.

This year, we have been nominated in the following categories:

To see our whisky listed alongside international names, and to be one of several English distilleries making up half of this global shortlist is an achievement we’re incredibly proud of. It’s a signal that English whisky is becoming part of the worldwide ‘whisky’ conversation, and we’re proud to represent English Whisky from our home in Derbyshire.

What Are the Online Scotch Whisky Awards?

The OSWAs are independent, community-led awards created by whisky commentators, reviewers, and enthusiasts from across the world. Founded by Ralfy of Ralfydotcom and Roy of Aqvavitae, the awards bring together some of the most trusted voices in whisky and empower the wider whisky community to cast the final vote.

The OSWA’s celebrate whiskies chosen for their quality, value, and accessibility. For a small, independent English distillery like ours, this is a huge honour and a chance to showcase our craft on a global stage.

Why This Nomination Matters

From the beginning, our mission has been to create our own piece of Derbyshire history — inspired by the pioneers of the Industrial Revolution who turned our home into a World Heritage Site. We’ve always taken the long view: no shortcuts, no compromises, and no gimmicks. We’re doing things differently, but only where it makes the whisky better. We believe in patience, purpose and craft. One day, we’ll pass on the tasting glass — but it means everything to know we’ll be leaving something worthy of filling it.

That’s why being nominated for Best World Whisky 2025 means so much. It’s recognition not only of our work, but of the dedication of our team and the passion of everyone who’s supported us along the way. English whisky is still a young category on the global stage, yet half of this year’s Best World Whisky nominees are from England — a clear sign that its reputation for quality is growing fast.

We’re proud to be part of that movement, proving that world-class whisky isn’t limited to Scotland, Ireland, Japan or the US. It’s being made right here — in the heart of Derbyshire.
