Port Cask Matures Into The Wire Works Provenance Core Range
Eight years ago, we laid down our first casks with a clear vision — to create a whisky defined by place, rooted in our provenance and heritage, and shaped with character that speaks of where it’s made. This month, that journey takes another defining step.
We’re proud to unveil the third release in the Wire Works Provenance Core Range:Wire Works Whisky — Port Cask.
Following on from Wire Works Caduro (2023) and Bourbon Barrel (2024), this release showcases our signature lightly-peated single malt, matured in a vatting of fresh Tawny Port barriques from Dias Cooperage and first-fill ex-bourbon barrels.
The result is rich yet graceful — a whisky with an oily texture, bold fruit character, and layers of sweetness, spice and smoke in perfect symmetry.
A Lineage of Port at Wire Works
Since our earliest days, Port casks have been part of the Wire Works journey. We’ve released Double Oak Port, Full Port, and a Distillery-exclusive hand-fill, all matured in Tawny Port casks. Earlier this year, we explored a new path with Port Wine LBV, a release finished in Late Bottled Vintage Port barriques.
Each of these casks brought something unique, but together they’ve built the foundation for our latest release.

Why Tawny?
For our new Core Range whisky, we’ve returned to Tawny Port. Aged in American oak barriques, Tawny Port develops layers of dried fruit, jammy red berries, marzipan, and caramel sweetness — the perfect partner for our lightly-peated house style.
In this release, we’ve combined fresh Tawny Port barriques from Dias Cooperage with first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels, creating a whisky that bridges the richness of Port with the vibrancy of our spirit.
The result is both familiar and new — Wire Works at its heart, but with a bold, fruit-driven profile that feels like the natural evolution of our Port story.
